Frequently asked questions
Reducing the dimensions of an image (downscaling) generally maintains good visual quality because pixels are merged intelligently. However, increasing an image beyond its original size (upscaling) can cause blurriness or pixelation, as the tool must create new pixel data that was not in the original. For best results, avoid upscaling images significantly above their original resolution.
Aspect ratio is the proportional relationship between an image's width and height. When "maintain aspect ratio" is enabled, changing the width automatically adjusts the height (and vice versa) to keep the image proportions identical to the original. This prevents distortion — otherwise the image would appear stretched or squished. Disable this option only if you intentionally want a different proportion.
The resizer supports JPG, PNG, and WEBP images. These formats cover the vast majority of images in everyday use and on the web. After resizing, you can download the result in the same format or choose a different one to suit your needs.
Recommended sizes vary by platform. For profile pictures: Facebook and Instagram recommend 180 × 180 px, LinkedIn uses 400 × 400 px, Twitter/X recommends 400 × 400 px, and YouTube channel icons should be at least 800 × 800 px. For cover images and banners, sizes differ significantly — always check the platform's latest guidelines as they can change.
No. All image resizing happens locally in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images are never sent to any external server, never stored, and never seen by anyone outside your own device. This makes the tool both fast and completely private.
For quality print output, images should be at least 300 DPI (dots per inch). At this resolution, a standard 4×6 inch print requires an image of approximately 1200 × 1800 pixels. For larger prints like A4 (8.27 × 11.69 inches), you need at least 2480 × 3508 pixels. Low-resolution images that look fine on screen often appear blurry or pixelated when printed.
The image resizer supports files up to 20MB. Since processing happens in your browser, this limit ensures smooth performance across all devices including older smartphones and computers with limited memory.
Currently the tool resizes one image at a time. After downloading, you can immediately resize another image without reloading the page. Batch resizing support is being considered for a future update.
